Yeah My Jetta only recommends every 5K miles :-) But the tires to be rotated is at 7500.

If the manufacturer recommends doing it every 7,500 miles, why should I do it every 3,000 miles? Changing your oil every 3,000 miles is ridiculous unless you're driving in horrible conditions, like if you drive on 20 miles of dirt roads every day or do a lot of off roading or crazy stuff like that. Only companies selling oil change services want you to do it every 3,000 miles. Now, if you get the oil changes for free - fine. Granted, you're paying for them anyway they're just rolling it into the price of the vehicle, but that's not really relevant.
