Read the fine print on any warranty you do not have to take it to a
dealership for routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation etc.)
I'm very picky about oil and filters (I only use Mobil1 and the Mobil1
filter, it's always produced good results) and theres a place right down
the street that does it at a resonable price.

Yeah My Jetta only recommends every 5K miles :-)
But the tires to be rotated is at 7500.

I hate going to the dealer for stuff like oil changes.

I have a Mazda3.

When I bought it, the dealership tried to sell my a service plan that
included oil changes, etc... buy the plan, get the oil changes at a
discounted price, that king of thing. The problem I have with that - or
any kind of service plan - is two fold:

#1 - the dealership is inconvenient. You have to make appointments,
sometimes leave the car there, etc.
#2 - the service plan does oil changes every 3,000 miles. And they make
you come in within 500 miles or something of your scheduled maintenance
or you don't get it. My Mazda3 *OWNERS MANUAL* recommends changin the
oil every 6,000 miles. If the manufacturer recommends doing it every
7,500 miles, why should I do it every 3,000 miles?

Changing your oil every 3,000 miles is ridiculous unless you're driving
in horrible conditions, like if you drive on 20 miles of dirt roads
every day or do a lot of off roading or crazy stuff like that. Only
companies selling oil change services want you to do it every 3,000
miles.

Now, if you get the oil changes for free - fine. Granted, you're paying
for them anyway they're just rolling it into the price of the vehicle,
but that's not really relevant.

In that case, you're still faced with the inconvenience of having to go
to the dealer.
