But that wasn't the concept nor is it the outcome. We didn't invade
Iraq in a military squeeze play; we invaded because the administration
was convinced that, due to a mission from God, their role was to
spread the glory of democracy to the Middle East.

And not only was that going to be the result according to Chalabi, the
liberation of Iraq was going to topple Iran via a popular uprising.

So, if you're going to rewrite history to ascribe motivations and
strategies that didn't exist they, yeah, it maybe makes sense.

And, if we're going down that road, we could also say that that
strategy is impossible given the current size of our military, the
total estrangement of US from its allies and their forces, and our
inability to successfully fight in an urban theatre.

Further we're not even able to control ground we've taken. I've read
that we've just abandoned the entire western part of Iraq, a full 1/3
of the country. And Iraq's government is openly supporting Hezbollah.

So, even if we were going down the path you suggest, which we're not,
we're still failing.
