Absolutely! Wow, we have a lot in common. I was just in high school, worked
there to get some experience with animals for when I applied to vet school
(actually did go too, just ended up not being the right career for
me...obviously!) and learned so much! My first job was a facility that not only
did some racing, but also rehabilitation by swimming the horses. That was
always fun...they knew where the exit from the pool was and my job was often
trying to keep them from bolting out each time! And cleaning up whatever they
left in the pool, ;-) I always loved the standardbreds, much easier to work
with than thoroughbreds in general. Later I worked at a track and one of my
favorite memories is traveling up to Pimlico for race days. One time we had our
best horse in a stakes race, his first time racing on turf. I was with the
local trainer and he thought it'd be neat for me to see my first stakes race
from high up in the stands. Well, our horse won, and he goes "Hey, we have to
be down there for the photo!" So we had to race all the way down the bleachers
to get in the photo. 20 years later, I still have that photo. ;-)
