I just started with this company a little over a month ago. So far I have been having major issues.
1. I was told they had flex hours. Now I am being told that I have to set a schedule and STRICTLY abide that schedule. Such as yesterday I got here at 7:10 and got a tardiness email. 2. My was hired along with one of my managers friends (not sure if any real programming knowledge) needless to say I am not in their "click" I was told that I am antisocial because I do not go in their office and "hang out" 3. The project we are on, there is an old app written in ASP that needs to be rewritten in CF and db moved from mssql to oracle. The manager has decided to break it up in three areas, db (he is doing), data input (friend), and charts (me). Right now I can only look at the code in notepad and the db in Access because I don't have a dev acct on my machine yet (which means I cannot install anything) This is fine. When the sections were established I went through all of the charts in the old system, made a document listing all of the charts, descriptions, questions, and recommendations for improvements. Now my cubicle is in a different room from my manager and his friend. I have been criticized because I have not been going in to them and asking questions about the old app. Typically if I see something that I do not understand I look into it and see if I can come up with the answer, then if necessary ask someone. They feel I am not being a team member because of this. When I do go in there and discuss the app the majority of the conversation consists of making fun of the old code. Fine make jokes, I don't care, I don't see the point in it though. I am not going to waste my time doing that. I can look at one of my own apps from 5 years ago and say wtf was I thinking! The friend is hung up on the fact that there are many functions that are not being used any more. 4. When the manager or friend say something that either I don't understand or I think of something that could impact that decision I say something. I am analytical to a fault. I usually think of all of the what-if scenerios. They are taking that as me challenging them. There are a couple of other little issues but this is getting kind of long. I just left a company that I was with for 5 years. I left because we pretty much only had 1 application and had been working on it for the last 3 years. I wanted to do more interesting work. My quandry is whether I should try to give it more time and hope everything works itself out, try to make myself fit in with their "mold", get my resume back out there. I am so incredibly frustrated with all of this. I had a great repoir with my previous coworkers, I am actually a pretty social person. I have really never been in this position before.
