Where do you think it came from 10 years ago? 5 years ago?

Here's what's happened in a nutshell:

(1.) Rich US oil people (i.e., Bushs) and politicians enabled a Middle
East plutocracy while also leveraging the Israelis and a collection of
nutjobs (Hussein) as a beach head to protect oil supplies.

(2.) The ME plutocracy governed at their whims which, in the case of
the Saudi Arabia, meant fundamentalist teaching.

(3.) These fundamentalists grew up and, surprise!, starting practicing
fundamentalism.

(4.) The fundamentalists realized that their teachers weren't
practicing what they preached, so they left to find a "pure" place to
live.

(5.) After the end of the Cold War the fundamentalists realized that
the real problem was the plutocracy that was enabled and empowered by
the US. They wanted to go home to finish what the plutocracy started
but there's one problem: the US is still enabling the plutocracy. And
thus all attacks against the US since.

So what's our best option you ask? The same as it always has been.

The Solution
----------------------
We pull our troops out of Iraq in some organized reasonable manner
(i.e., 2-5 years). We continue to pressure everyone to towel off and
keep it chill. If they don't we bomb the shit out of them and then
ask them to chill. At the same time we ruthlessly hunt and kill Al
Quaeda and any associated groups. Repeat.

Same as 5 years ago.
