I offer this not necessarily as proof, but an explanation of my somewhat
convoluted beliefs..

I was raised in a fairly liberal church (Christian Church, Disciples of
Christ) until I was 18 years old, I was then given the choice to attend or
not, i chose not too.
My choice was based not in the belief structure per se, but in the
clickish nature of the other people my age. I needed to form my own
beliefs, free of the infulences that where present.

I beleive that we're not here by accident. I believe that were all part of
an ever evolving structure far greater than any individual.
I believe in God, but the God that I belive in, loves all of his children
without exclusion, and he's the creator of this structure. My proof of
existance, is the order in chaos, the perfection of an individual
snowflake, that, left to its own devices, the natural world will work
perfectly. My church is to walk out the door on a sunny summer afternoon
and bathe in the warmth of the sunlight, or to marvel at a rainbow, or to
sit at the edge of the ocean and just wonder.

I believe that the universe is here for us, and others like us to explore
and discover.

I belive there was a man called Jesus, my proof is that he's metioned in
more than one spritual text (The Old Testament, the Koran, and the
Torah...Mike D correct me if I'm wrong...)
Is he the son of God, I dunno, did he do some profoundly meaningfull and
world changing things... the texts say he did.

It's not my place to tell others what or how to believe. My place is to
try to live my life based on what I believe.

> First off, in case you don't know, I'm agnostic.

I myself am an atheist.

Raised Catholic by my parents, even went to Catholic schools until 8th
grade. I have many reasons for being atheist, not the least of which
is proof.

I require proof. More than faith, more than belief. Prove it.

And don't come back with the "prove there isn't a god" argument that I
hear so often. I don't have to. I don't believe in god, you do, the
burden is upon you therefore to prove he exists.

I married a woman that is, or rather, was religious. Raised by hippies
turned tent-revival-fire-and-brimstone Christian types. My wife's
father used religion as a weapon, his faith as a reason to brutalize
is children physically and mentally.

She has been, of late, questioning her faith and upbringing.

We have had many a discussion about religion and the lack thereof and
god and the lack thereof.

We have on many occasions agreed to disagree.

You're not alone. One piece of advice, if you have set a boundary of
no church services for yourself, stick to it. Be gentle about it, but
firm.
