There are contemporary accounts of Herod and Pontius Pilate, Julius
Caesar and Alexander the Great, Brendan of Ireland and even of Chinese
poets and diplomats and commoners.

But none of Jesus. nada...

odd that he would garner such a following based on hearsay, and that
contradiction or doubt amounts to heresy of the highest order.

Odd too that we use the argument, but they are only mythological
figures when w speak of Hercules, Horus and Osiris. Yet, the accounts
of their lives and deeds are no less hearsay than any of those of the
life and deeds of Christ...

Oh and to the point that the other stories do not speak to existence,
merely to the supposed divinity... what would be the point of
Christianity if Christ was not in some way divine, then? Would that
mean that the miracles spoken of in the bible were merely folktales or
entirely made up? And if so, what then do we use as an historical
reference to point to the existence of the man, divine or not? How
then would Christ and the worship thereof secure one a place in
heaven, should he not actually be divine?
