The old testament also mentioned whales swallowing men, Tiamat and giants. Does 
that mean they exist? Moreover just because something is mentioned in both the 
new testament and in the Koran doesn't mean it really happened? Mohammad was 
know to have read both Jewish and Christian religious texts before he wrote the 
Koran.

Another point to consider, why is there no independent record of the 
crucifixion? You'd have thought that given the world darkening, the storms 
etc., that would have been mentioned elsewhere. You'd have thought that the 
contemporary chroniclers would have at least made a mention of something. There 
is no independent mention of the event until about 40 or 50 years afterwards by 
Flavius Josephus in Antiquities of the Jews. And that has been shown to most 
likely be a fraud, added in the 8th or 9th centuries.
