Yeah I live in Virginia, I saw what little Wilder did for the state on his
politcal climb. Northern Virginia put him in office just like we bounced
Allen, not the rest of the state
He's cut out of the same mold as Gilmore was. Screw the populace, as long
as my political star shines a little brighter. Wilder saw his govenorship
as a stepping stone.
I don't belive that America is the enlightened, forward thinking place
that we'd like to believe it is, at least when it comes to race relations.
i wish it was.
When I mean lawsuits, I mean the same kind of thing that happened after
the 2000 (2004?) election when Bush won the college but didn't win the
popular vote. People suing for recounts, claims of voter impropriety etc.

Wow, you're not kidding...

Most likely, yes. However, those people will *always* be around. Are we
supposed to never allow a minority to run as a result? I think such people
are really on the fringe these days and the behavior you describe, racial
ads and such, would not at all be tolerated. And quite simply, we will
*have* to go through it at some point. If the man is the best-qualified
candidate, then it *would* be a crime to be to deny him the opportunity
because of his race and because we are afraid of ourselves.
Just look at my old home state of Virginia...first state to elect an
African American governor (Doug Wilder), even though it's a fairly solidly
red state. Even though his race was very close and required a recount for
him to be declared victor, none of these things you describe happened.
What they *did* note however was that the polling was less accurate than
typically...an effect that most likely was due to the race issue. People
don't want to appear racially insenstive so they would tell a pollster
they would vote for him, when they did not intend to.
>if he runs and wins you'll see riots and
>lawsuits that claim that he won because he's african american.
Uh, who would they sue, the American people that voted for him?? Sure.
