I think there's a big difference between a state and national election. 
Because of my ex-wife's parents I've seen plenty of people who'd do 
whatever they could legal or otherwise to not have an African American in 
the White house.

since obviously such arguments would have little credence otherwise. If it 
*was* that close, then guess America wouldn't be so backwards about race 
then, huh?"

Regardless of what the margin was these things would come up.

We'll put a woman in the White House before anyone's who skin is other 
than white.
America's just not ready and we won't be for a very, very long time. It's 
a shame but it's the truth IMHO
