Honestly, I'd prefer it if EVERYTHING was done by society, vs.
the .gubmint. But that's sorta along the lines of people doing
stuff because they know it's right, vs. "fear the stick", so to speak.

A utopian dream, perhaps. Perhaps. Maybe-- see, I think we do
it all the time anyways... but I digress.

I think we've gone so far down the path of legislating morality and
good behavior that we don't even know that there is a nother way-
which is silly because we mostly rely on that other way anyways.

See, it's not really the LAW doing anything, it's moreso society.
(in my opinion). Law used to be thrown around far less, for
instance, and we were still "ok". Laws don't make the person.

Law is a simpleton's way out, IMHO. It's like treating symptoms
vs. causes, and does more to make people "feel good" than
actually resolve the issues at hand.

We apparently don't like to have to think very much, as a
society/culture-- I mean, it's really amazing, if you look at
the history, how much personal responsibility we've given
up.
We prefer have our problems, be Someone Else's, if you
get my drift. We don't even like giving judges the power to
handle situations as they see fit-- and this is after castrating
our juries!

Basically, if you ask me, I feel we should be spending our
time fixing the system we have, vs. adding bloat in the
form of more laws and less responsibility at the individual
level.

But I'm a nutty kind of guy-- and I enjoyed "The Death of
Common Sense", which is a good example of just how
incredibly silly we've gotten. And it's an old-ish book!

Part of The Answer, is less Laws, if you ask me.

And that's why I'm against more law, in general. =]
