"Who would decide that a school should be denied funding and against
whose specifications would they make that judgement?"

Great question. Someone said people should use common sense. I am
all for it. If its graduate level ethics class, it might be kind of
hard to draw any lines. If it's accounting 101, it should be pretty
easy to draw the line (the accounting 101 relates to a friend who had
to take the class several years back for work; the prof spent half the
class each week bashing Bush instead of teaching accounting). Of
course, it is beyond generous to say that anyone in a government
positon or university administration will use common sense to address
issues like this. Some special interest group might feel like their
toes have been stepped on and scream loudly. It is just too easy to
let it run.

Ultimately, it would be great if the taxpayers could decide. On your
tax return, simply allocated what gov't programs you would like to
receive money. That's a fairy tale though.

As it stands now, I haven't the faintest idea who would decide. As
it, there is no one. Fortunately, it is not my problem to fix. I
just agree in some fashion with the AZ repubs who think there is a
problem.

"What about accreditation? Doesn't it fit into the picture here too?"

Maybe. Accredidation is not done by those funding the colleges. It
is done by associations. I don't have the desire or time to study
these associations to know if they are concerned about real teaching
or membership.

Communication never hurts.
