I saw something not long ago with a fairly high ranking retired military
official (don't remember who) stating that basically they tell our
servicemen to provide basic information but spill your guts rather than
expose yourself to torture.

The philosophy being that the average Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman
doesn't know anything critical and will eventually break if the captors
want them to. So why put them through the paces?
