I bet their supervisors understand the language and are able to give out
tasks without a problem.

Every job here includes the phrase other duties as assigned, you also
have to be able to read and sign the agreements provided by the
employer.

As for private companies, I didn't say a word about qualifications. If
one of the qualifications is ability to manage a group of people that
don't respect female managers, then well, the female isn't qualified. A
private company in general doesn't have any discrimination concerns. I
saw where California did have some laws about that. But couldn't find
much specific.

If you are a private company that is bidding for large government jobs,
then there are also concerns. But private companies can generally hire
who they want.

If you feel that somebody can't do the job, they resume doesn't matter.
You run the show, you can do what you want.

Subject: Re: English in America in trouble?

umm :) I spent considerable time in hotels in Texas after the flood, and
most of them managed to vacuum quite well despite a lack of English.

As for legitimate rob requirements ::cough:: please tell me you don't
have hiring authority where you are. If you do, you might want to check
with your employer's attorney.

I personally don't know the case law on when knowledge of English is a
legitimate job requirement, but it's absolutely not the case that you
can hire a male project manager over a more qualified female candidate
just because you are more comfortable with a male employee. I am sure
that people do all the time, but they run the risk of being sued. No
question
