I don't think we'll ever really know what God said, or what happened
way back then.

So many wars, and so many different regimes. All of which seemed to
pillage and burn all the books and learning of the time, keeping and
then rewriting what the specific regime wanted. When the bible was put
together parts that were deemed to not be suitable were burnt.

The amount of learning destroyed by the romans alone, or the Spanish
is just incalculable.

There are even parts of the gospels, for example St. Peter's that seem
to make various references to the Political situation of the time with
Rome, and the text that he wrote down takes pot shots at the Roman
rulers who had begun to persecute him and those of his belief. So a
lot of different influences entered these writings.

I mean take even the days of slavery and the annihilation of entire
civilisations in the Caribbean. We piece together bit by bit what
these lives would have been like, but so much of how they lived...what
they did and why has been lost, destroyed by the 'conquerors'. The
victors make the history and set the 'truth' after the fact.

Sadly...I just don't know what we really know ^_^
Except that we know nothing :)
