Not really. In the future, if your dog has that many ticks, you may want to get
a good strong flea and tick dip to use instead, which will kill them all at
once and have much less chance of leaving the head behind. But it's not going
to cause any great problems in there in general, it will eventually just drop
out, sort of having a small splinter which will just get a little inflammed but
drop out on its own. The one thing you do need to watch for is any symptoms of
tick borne diseases. Depending where you live, Lyme is becoming quite common,
other diseases like Rocky Mountain and tick fever are also possible. Frontline,
while a good product, doesn't kill ticks right away. Often they will stay off a
dog that's been treated but in a really heavily infested area, you'll still get
a lot of ticks. Eventually they'll die and fall off, but I wouldn't say it's
the best way to go since quick removal is essential to preventing tick-borne
diseases. The Preventic collar is a bit faster acting and I've had really good
results with it in the past when needing to keep ticks at bay. If your vet
doesn't carry it, you can get them at kvvet.com
