That's potentially five criminal acts for this guy. Entering the country three times illegally (probably more, those are the only ones anyone can prove), (some involvement in) stealing a car (felony), and a potential DUI (usually a felony if anyone is injured).
It really shouldn't matter is he's an illegal immigrant or not, he broke the law 5 times, at various severity levels, and at various times. This definitely shows a pattern of criminal behavior. Does NC have a three strikes law? If illegal entry into the US were a felony this guy would be history in a 3 strike situation. -Cameron On 6/5/07, Rick Root <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/1472083/ > > Updated story from yesterday's tragic accident. > > The guy apparently IS an illegal immigrant - his fingerprints match > those of a man who was caught twice trying to cross the border in > 2004. > > The Chevy Tahoe he was driving was reported stolen this morning in > Charlotte (about 3 hours west of Raleigh) > > He's being held on $1.2 million bond (he's considered a flight risk, > imagine that). > > The passenger in the Tahoe, who was treated for injuries, was detained > after it was determined that he was also an illegal alien, having been > deported twice before. > > The driver works for a concrete company in Concord, NC (near Charlotte). > > i think companies that hire illegal aliens should be held liable for > their actions.
