See my previous post, in 2003 and 2004 my HMO plan cost $700/mo for
full family coverage for my family of 4.

This isn't a moral of fiscal equivalence argument but I'll say this -
I would rather have our elected officials going off to see the state
of affairs in a military action zone so they can give our troops the
credit they deserve (which they did) than throw my money at a family
that is struggling less than I am.
