I would definitely consider a mac. I've been considering a mac.

My wife has indicated that she may possibly give me the green light
early next year (40th birthday). I'm weighing the options.

The biggest reason I didn't want a mac to begin with was the lack of
software available. now that you can run windows on a mac via
parallels or vmware, that issue has been addressed. i'm just weighing
whether or not it's worth spending the extra $ so i can run windows on
a mac :)

i know you hate dell, but i gotta tell you. i'm working on a dell
laptop that i bought in april of 2005. i bought it on a whim, as a
second computer (had a desktop already). it was a good deal (well
under $1k) and i figured it'd serve it's purpose as an extra machine.

well, my wife's desktop died, so i ended up giving her mine, and
moving to the dell full time. it's not particularly robust (but
remember... it wasn't originally purchased as a powerhouse machine).
but i gotta tell ya... i've been using it as a full time machine for
about 2 years now, and i have no complaints. i don't have issues with
it locking up or getting viruses and i'm pretty darn productive.

So i've been weighing whether or not i want a mac just so i can play
with the "cool kids" :)

If I had the problems that you and others have had on windows and dell
machines, i'm sure i'd be thinking differently.

hey i had a dodge once that was a POS. I'll never -ever- buy a dodge
again. but there are people who buy dodges every day and don't have
problems.

whatever works for you works for you.

I posted the link 'cuz it was funny. You're the one that jumped in
with the attacking and name calling. Why's it so hard for you to
accept that, while you may have had a really bad experience with
windows, that not everybody else has? You badmouth windows and MS and
dell and don't understand why people get upset. Yet, I post one
link... a link that's obviously meant to be funny, and you start with
the name calling.

What's up with that? :)
