There have been Jews returning to the land for hundreds of years. I can quote Suleman the great who called the Jews to the land when expelled from Spain. I can point to numerous accounts of people traveling to live in the land and I can also point to numerous accounts of massacres against the Jews in (and outside of) the land. The real difference was not the return of Jews. It was the return of Jews who saw no other place to run to and decided to take a stand. That's the problem that many have with Israel. That's the reason for the double standard. The Jews took a stand rather then kept running. It undermines Christianity. It undermines Islam. It undermines just about every social or religious theology. Jews are not supposed to win. We're supposed to convert, be submissive, disappear into the dust of history. We piss everyone off by surviving.
