What about it? The ship was clearly in Spains territorial waters (do the math,
territorial waters extend for 12 nautical mile, they were 4 (land) mile out of
Gibraltar and Gibraltar simply isn't 8 mile long). The ship was suspected of
transporting contrabands.

Frankly, I would be concerned if they hadn't searched the ship.

Which international laws? At its best requesting permission to board is only
required in international water, not in territorial water. But considering the
US Coast Guard doesn't ask drugs smugglers permission to board either even if
they are quite a bit further out on the sea, what does the US have to complain
about?

Why? If I were to film the US military in action I would be happy if
confiscation of my media was the only reaction.

Where exactly are the US rights violated? Even if you wish to maintain
somebodies rights were violated, the ship is registered in the Bahama's, not
the US.
