Day is a division of time gauged by tracking the suns position in reference to a single spot on earth. If there is no sun or earth, is there a day? If there are no people to see this event, is there a day. The term is relative in time to the observer. I remember a physics professor that explained in a book using time dilation in different gravity fields. An entity on the edge of the expanding universe would have 6 relative earth days of creation where it would be millenium for him. I havn't read the book in a while, but that was the general point of it. Be that as it may, science can be used to prove and disprove anything and everything. That's the fun of it. :)
