neat stuff going on in CA -
MBARI (Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute) has ocean-going ships with
deep submersible ROVs. Monterey Canyon, west of Monterey Bay, goes down
thousands of meters, but it's close enough to shore to be accessible. In one
of the theaters at the MBA they show films taken by the ROV cameras. Way
cool.
