We've got it recorded (my wife is a "Wizard of Oz" NUT) but weren't really
looking forward to it... kind of wincing in its direction now and again.

I'm glad... after (forgive the language) completely ass-raping "Earthsea"
and "Dune" and several others I had little hope.

But I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day, huh?

Although at the same time I do wish people would stop "reinventing" things
when the actual thing hasn't been done right yet. ;^) I would love to see
a well-done theatrical implementation of "Oz". So many people equate it with
the MGM movie and have no idea how truly freaky some of the original work
is.

They tried in "Return to Oz" (a great, but totally underappreciated movie)
which was dark and subtly twisted and captured the world very well.

I just don't know why they bother... it seems like it would cost just as
much to do the actual story and be less risky on the whole. I mean they
would instantly please the purists and anybody else that hated it would
simply be informed that "we produced the story as the author intended".

I guess it applies more to something like "Earthsea" than to "Oz" (where the
movie really has completely overrun the book) but still.

Sorry... I'm rambling.
