First, take a look at the bible belt. And look what states the bible belt encompasses. Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Virginia, Kansas, and Missouri. With some exceptions to areas in Texas and Louisiana, these are all pretty much red states, and these red states are primarily Protestant and Southern Baptist, which are typically conservative and typically pro-gun. Although Iowa is not considered part of the bible belt, they are primarily Protestant and thus encompass the same conservative values as the red states do. This is my personal observation.
