I just came back from the bathroom. I had to pee. (yeah, a little more info
than some peope want to hear, but I have to set the stage here.)

I took care of my need. I washed my hands. I brushed my hair standing in
front of the toilet because the mirror is to the side of it. I went to leave
and before I shut the light out, I checked to make sure I put the seat down.
Habits and all.

AND THEN! I almost had a heart-attack.

On the floor, right by the base of the toilet where I had just been
sitting/standing was a spider as big as the palm of my hand. (with all it's
hairy ugly legs spread out.) I'm scared to death of spiders. Except
daddy-long-legs. They are kinda cute. Like that one in Honey I Shrunk the
Kids or whichever movie that was.

Anyway. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't move. For two full minutes, though it
seemed like forever, we stared each other down. I didn't know what to do. I
had nothing with a long enough handle to kill it with. I certainly wasn't
getting any closer than 10 feet to it. And then I remembered the can of
aerosol toilet bowl cleaner!

Of course I had to leave the doorway to get it, and I was afraid to take my
eyes off it, for fear it would scurry back to whence it came. But finally I
managed to go to the other room and get it, and thankfully it was still
there when I got back ... and then I dowsed it! It curled up into this
little tiny ball and died. And I DON'T CARE! They bite! And I don't want
aything that big and ugly in my house! I know they eat pests, but they freak
me out. Stay outside, that's fine, but don't enter the castle.

So, sorry to you spider-fans, but one of your furry friends just bit the
dust.

Except now I'm constantly looking down at my feet and into dark corners ....
