What I said was that Al Qaeda is not Iraq's army, nor is it the army of 
any country on earth.  Although I guess you could make an argument that 
it was part of the armed forces in Afghanistan for awhile.

The US did defend Kuwait when Iraq invaded, at the request of Kuwait and 
Saudi Arabia.  Hardly a vigilante action.

You can't have it both ways.  Either Al Qaeda has nothing to do with 
Iraq (as I think you would agree with), or they represent Iraq against 
Spain in some sort of retribution arrangement (which you also seem to 
agree with).
