Sorry but you are totally wrong, as Michael very clearly explained. Al Qaeda
regards Spain as an their caliphate and part of an Al Qaeda super-state
stretching from Spain to Indonesia. They have been very clear about their
intent with regard to Spain, and it has nothing to do with the war in Iraq,
or even the war in Afghanistan.

My original point was based on the motives behind the Zapatero government's
actions in pulling Spain's troops out of Iraq - that they believed in the
need to step back and "not tread on Muslim land", that doing so was
inflaming hatred toward Spain. If that is the case, then their reasoning was
totally flawed and their actions did nothing to prevent them from being a
target for further attacks.
