Problem is this - EVERYONE does this. Some base their ideologies on their religious beliefs while others have fallen in with the cults of Global Warming, Environmentalism, Socialism, Humanism or any other ism, ology or anity that is out there. > Then there's the most dangerous kind...the kind that would look to change > the fundamental principles of this nation through legislation..... Do you mean like Roe -v- Wade, Campaign Finance Reform, NAFTA or potentially the amendments regarding Presidential term limits, Prohibition, Women's Suffrage, Equal Rights? Those fundamental principles? The issue I have with you calling me "mostly harmless" is this - In this country, the governed have the right work to push their desires upon the government. Why are your desires (or the desires of any group) any more or less important than mine (or the desires of any other group)? I'm not trying to be trite here... we are a representative republic and unless the rules have changed the majority does actually control the course of action. Statistically, 76% of the American populace claims some form of Christianity or Catholicism as their belief structure. These structures guide ideologies and ideologies guide desire.
