Ramone was seminally important. The Ramones were seminally important. One of the most important bands in the history of rock and roll. Johnny revolutionaized guitar playing. His three-chord, blitzkrig attack that was simultanously fun and rhythmic and melodic was fresh and new, but harkened back to '60s garage bands. He should definately be on the list, though it would be a quibble as to where he should be placed. Knopfler should be higher.
