I am lusting for MacBook Air. I love the look of it. But it just
won't do all I need to do.

I need a new machine for my studio that will run ProTools. But I
also need some thing that will also run all the apps I use for
development - CF, Oracle, Toad, etc.. And a Linux partition to run a
bunch of open source audio apps.

As for audio players, I love my iPod. Last week while I was home sick
I ripped all my house mates CDs, so I now have over 10 thousand songs
on my iPod. My favorite iTunes feature is the Smart Playlist
function. It's a great way of organizing my song library. Although
most of the time lately, I'll just pick a letter of the alphabet, go
to the song listing and start playing with the first song in that
letter. Today I listened to D songs all day. The function I wish it
had was a way to sort by tempo or groove..ballads, waltzes, etc..
cause some days I'm in the mood for slow songs, and some days I'm not.

Tonight in the studio I pumped the iPod through my reference monitors
so my guitar player could learn his parts. It sounded awesome. I
also save the mixes of my music projects to the iPod so I can listen
back to them repeatedly to find the flaws. It's a nice use my commute
time.
