Some secondary considerations, I would not spend money on these for a 
starter, but if you had a choice and could get a telescope that is easy 
to upgrade with these options later, that might be a factor.

Camera mount.  The telescope comes with or can be upgrade to accept a 
camera at the eye piece to take pictures.

Altazimuth mount.  When properly aligned this allows one to follow the 
motion of the stars and planets, or more accurately to account for the 
spin of the Earth, by moving the telescope on a single axis.

A motorized mount that does this automatically.  This goes well with the 
camera as it allows for long exposures to capture dim objects.

A computer interface with the Altazimuth, motorized mount allowing one 
to use software to aim the telescope at desired objects.

But these are definitely extras that I would not get initially if one is 
unsure of ones interest in the hobby.
