Nope, wrong.  

You can take out a tank with a handful of decent explosive, a sock, and some
heavy grease.

You can take out a helicopter with one or more thin metal rods shot out of
homemade mortar tubes using some smokeless propellant (modern gunpowder).

You can stop a hardened humvee with a wheel snare.

You can take out a jet while it sits on the tarmac.

You can pick-off an armored soldier with one well-placed round.

It's just that it's a whole lot easier and safer to do all this using
military-grade weapons.

BTW, you should all know that South Africa is a country where it's illegal
for civilians to own weapons that even fire a military caliber, which is why
Glock sells its .380 over there.

And we all want to follow South Africa's examples on things, right?
