It's no less objectionable than food labeled vegan or fat free. I think the opposition may be due to the images associated with the slaughter of Halal meat which is usually a goat with its head cut off and blood all over the place. Even knowing more about the how and why of it I still have that image. I once saw a couple of Muslim men killing goats in an alley next to a Halal store and there was blood all over the place. It's not an image you can easily forget.
