You can set up a virtual machine with Windows on it inside Ubuntu to run
Windows programs from. I haven't gotten around to doing that yet, but I
will. KVM (kernel virtual machine) is built into the Linux kernel now, and
Ubuntu 8.04 will include a couple of basic GUI management tools for virtual
machines.

Intel processors have a limitation with KVM having to do with real mode
instructions not being fully supported. It makes running a GUI VM a PITA in
KVM because you have to use VNC to view it. AMD processors do not have that
limitation.

Either way, KVM provides excellent performance, and it is getting better
everyday.
