Well it was about $5,000 for the unit itself, installed. The extra $1200
was for the filtration system and thermostat, but we got a $1000 rebate on
the combined purchase.

Keep in mind that we bought a fairly high end, high efficience (15 SEER)
system with the variable speed blower, and it is ultra quiet.

the quote on the basic Goodman system was around $3200 (just the unit,
installed). But the same filtration system on the goodman would've cost
$1600 because the installation was much more difficult, and there would've
been no rebate.. so we basically would've ended up paying $4800 ($400 less)
for the goodman system for a much lower quality, less efficient system with
a shorter warranty.
