The 401k is probably worth waiting for too, but that depends on the opportunity and the amount of money involved. If you can broker a deal with the new company to allow you to wait it out then I'd do it. It doesn't hurt to ask, the worst they can do is say no. If not, then I guess it comes down to how good the opportunity is and how it fits for you. If it's your dream job, they won't wait, and it's a once in a life time gig, I'd jump.
