I'm on the western edge of the area. What I'm looking at is about 20 miles to
the metro, then another 6 or 7 stops to the job. While there is a commuter bus
to the metro, I don't like that option, I cannot stomach (literally) riding on
buses. I figure it will take about 40 minutes to an hour one way to the metro,
then another 20 minutes by the subway. then its about a 3 minute walk. After 6
months though there is the option for a telecommute, so that would reduce my
costs by a lot.

In general I've been quite unhappy with the current job, at times infuriated.
The thing that has angered me at times is how our skills have been denigrated
by upper management at times. For instance we put forward a proposal for
supplying web services for one project. The java developer I worked with at the
time has a master's degree in CS. Her thesis was on web services. After seeing
our proposal management said to our faces that the expertise was not "in
house". And they knew that the java coder had that skill set. I've had the same
experience with usability and general web development. Its been a very
frustrating year.

anyhow thanks all for helping me clarify my thoughts. I'll be sending my
acceptance in on Tuesday, after the long weekend.
