Years back, everyone just watched the nightly news and there wasn't the ability to get out new blanket messages like there is today. I don't remember people using such harsh words in the past, but then I"m too young to remember what it was like during Vietnam which is probably the closest thing to today. Even back in, say, 1990 I used to be a die hard Rush Limbaugh fan and I don't remember him using the type of confrontational language he does now.
