Northridge in 1994 was 6.7. Sylmar in 1971 was 6.6 If you hear the reference in California to 1971 earthquake standards, its referring to standards created after the Sylmar earthquake. I went through both of them. For a 5.6, if I'm in bed, I usually just threw the covers over my head. If I was up, I'd go under a doorway. For a 6+ I'd be under the doorway no matter what. (I think for Northridge, I was up and under a doorway in under 5 seconds). -----Original Message----- From: Tony [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2008 2:53 PM To: CF-Community Subject: Re: EARTHQUAKE and yes i knonw the richter scale, and how it goes up exponentially and 5.6 and 6.7 are REALLY largely spaced due to this... but what does 5.6 do to buildings etc? -- tony Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace. -- siddhartha gautama On Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 2:52 PM, Tony <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > not that ive been through one, but is 5.6 THAT big? or is it kinda > normal hum drum? > > -- tony > > Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace. > -- siddhartha gautama > > > > On Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 2:46 PM, Jacob <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsus/Quakes/ci14383980.php >> >> 5.6.. about 10 miles from me. >> >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Jacob [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >> Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2008 11:45 AM >> To: CF-Community >> Subject: EARTHQUAKE >> >> Just had an good earthquake.. 2 minutes ago... >> >> So cal >> >> >> >> >> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;203748912;27390454;j Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:264917 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
