You are discovering the traps of "cultural relativism".

Are there "absolute truths"...? That's a loaded question. Most will infer
from that phrase that we purport to know what IS, and is NOT, "right", as
judged from a level higher up than humanity.

If we attempt to remove ethics, and morality, and God from the
question.....we can perhaps ponder: "Are there actions that do harm to our
collective humanity?"

God is often time used as a means for one culture to hold judgment over
another. It's a means by which they battle the relativists who would argue
that one culture cannot speak to the actions of another in terms of "right
and wrong". We all see what kind of issues THAT can cause!

If we replace "God", or even "morality", with that one thing that truly does
join us under the same umbrella.....we are all human beings.....maybe we can
collectively discuss what does our species "right", and what does it
"wrong".

I dunno.....I'm just sort of thinking out loud here......
