Naw, that's google earth. which is, by intent, a mix of maps with user
contributed data. That is exactly what google was shooting for (although, I
understand that one took a lot of google higher-ups brain power to figure
out if it fell within terms of service)

And, the crowdsourcing of google maps is not so much by desire, but
neccessity. If there is no data that google can buy (cheaply, with the right
set of usage rights), someone has to make it. getting local people to do the
work for free, and google capitalizing on that data, is so this century.

Just ask the cddb or imdb.
