Well, to be fair, Georgia didn't attack Russia, they attacked South Ossetia,
a "breakaway" province recognized as part of their sovereign nation.

You are saying they attacked civilians, not military targets, and those
civilians are within their own country. A rebellious province, but still
within their sovereignty.

It is probable, though, that they actually also attacked military targets,
both rebels and Russian peacekeepers. Which is still not attacking Russia,
but instead attacking Russians.

Now, don't read this as approving or condoning Georgia's actions. Pretty
dumb of them to pick a fight they CANNOT win. Even when you are instigated
by deliberate action by the foreign parties.
