So sorry to hear about your grandmother, hope the medication your are on will help, but keep in mind that grief is something that still has to be worked through and dealt with. As for the doctor claiming that depression is not a disease, well while I would agree that anti-depressants are given far too often in this country and we are all too willing to look for drugs as an easy answer for a problem, there's a big difference between situational problems that can cause depression and true clinical depression, which can have quite far-reaching effects in someone's life. Having suffered through fairly severe clinical depression when I was much younger, I can attest to how totally debilitating it can be, and can strike you down for seemingly no real reason. I can't say for sure how much a part anti-depressants played in my recovery (along with therapy, other changes in my life, etc.) but they certainly helped get over the worst of it....although the side effects of such meds back then were typically much worse (I still remember having so much trouble staying awake that first week of taking them, the drowsiness was so intense). I will say as well one thing that experience taught me as well is the real difference between real clinical depression and just having a rough time of it. For all the grief and difficult things I've dealt with in the last few years in my personal life, I've never felt truly "depressed" in a way that I felt unable to cope with things. When I look back on that time, it still is somewhat of a mystery to me in terms of what made life seem so hopeless and unlivable. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;203748912;27390454;j Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:266004 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
