I flew recently on AA and had a rather... interesting experience on
the last leg of my trip home. I sent the following to them. I wanted
to get other people's thoughts on what happened as well.

Because of some crazy form handler, their contact us form restricts
content to 1500 characters. I am posting the *short* version of what
I sent. If you want me to post the whole thing (it's two pages in
Word) I can.

My wife and I recently traveled to attend my grandmother's funeral.
As we were boarding flight 3835 to return home, we noticed two
unaccompanied minors checking in.

We sat in seats 16A and 16B and the girls sat directly in front of us.
They were Skylar (7) and Ali (5). They were sent off by their
mother's "assistant" with a bag of candy, two drinks, two "Fairy"
dolls and a coloring book with stickers (no crayons). The flight
attendant was surprised that they were there.

Early in the flight, Skylar was given a can of cola with a cup. She
poured some and put the cup on her tray table. Ali then decided that
she wanted something from under the seat. She "dove" under her the
seat, knocking the tray and spilling the drink onto Ali.

My wife went into "mommy" mode. We got Ali cleaned up and found
things for the girls to do. We did everything we could with what we
had, borrowing pen, making puppets and using the "voice" when the
girls got too loud. We even gave them paper we brought for me to
scratch out notes from the funeral and food my wife had for a
"mid-flight snack."

In short, on the return flight from my grandmother's funeral my wife
and I babysat two little girls that were put on the flight with
inadequate supplies by their parent. We had support of the flight
attendant but he was not adequately prepared to deal with them. I
have ideas to share but don't have the space to put them or my full
letter here.

I look forward to hearing from someone soon.
