As I said, the SCOTUS is one appointment away from MAJOR changes in our laws.

McCain has sold every principle he's ever had (compare Senator
McCain's positions to Candidate McCain's postions) to win the
nomination. When it comes to appointing judges at all levels, but
especially SCOTUS, he will appoint pro-life judges.

That will mean lower court ruling will quickly pass up to the SCOTUS
and you could see your right to choose eliminated. It could already
happen.

I'm not sure why you think you're so safe from the judicial branch but
keep in mind that Justices are appointed for life and are accountable
to nobody. There is no downside for any ruling they might choose to
make (for them).

And don't think that Roe v. Wade need be overturned. They could
easily thread that needle by only allowing choice in cases of rape and
incest.

Thus far we've been lucky that split decisions have saved our civil
liberties; but we're one appointment away from losing those too.

And my point was, tax bills are had to pass while judicial
appointments are easy to make and tough to turn down. That is, a
President has WAY more immediate impact on judicial branch of gov't
than he/she does on the legislative.
