I've only heard this twelfth hand, so I do not know if it true.  But it 
rings plausible in my ear.

Along that same road way, a bull moose decides a semi-truck is a rival 
or an intruder or something and charges it head on.  This one was fatal 
to the moose, but it was also fatal to the semi's engine.
