Some of the ways the Patriot Act has been used are over the line, I
agree with that. But it has also been used in ways that have directly
foiled attempted attacks. All of the people in Congress who have seen
the evidence have come away satisfied that we need to be doing what we
are doing to protect ourselves. Democrats who are no friends of the
Bush Administration are on the same page as Republicans. In this
political climate, the fact that they can agree on something tells me
that it is a very important thing.

A certain amount of mistrust of government is a necessary part of life.
