I am an economic conservative. I assume that the government is pushing
the boundaries on many fronts. I distinguish between healthy mistrust
and paranoid fear.  I assume, for instance, that the government is
monitoring Internet traffic (like this list) for signs of jihadist
activity, but I do not assume that black helicopters are coming to
pack me off for interrogation just because I mentioned the word
jihadist on a mailing list.
